LATEST: Plane reported off radar but safely returned to Yeager Airport

UPDATE:

The West Virginia State Police has confirmed that a small plane went off radar, but emergency officials do not believe there was a crash. The plane eyewitnesses had believed to have gone down has safely returned to Yeager Airport and emergency units at the scene are returning to service.

ORIGINAL:

Metro 911 has received a report from eyewitnesses that a plane may have crashed and emergency crews are attempting to work their way up a mountain to investigate behind Turnpike Ford in the Mt. Alpha area of Kanawha City.

Turnpike Ford employees reported seeing a large plane barely clear the top of a mountain between the dealership and Kanawha City.

The Marmet Fire Dept. says that Yeager Airport has "no knowledge of a downed plane."  The fire dept. says they have searched the area but haven't been able to confirm a crash. 

The West Virginia State Police, Kanawha Emergency EMS and Loudendale Volunteer Fire Dept.

They are looking in the area of Rush Creek on a mountain called Old Baldy.
