    For more than 10 years, College Summit West Virginia has been helping make higher education more attainable for 37,000 students who have participated in the program.

 The annual rankings of the best high schools in America from U.S. News & World Report included 29 schools in West Virginia this year.

The 2013 rankings came after 31,242 U.S. public high schools. Seven West Virginia schools earned silver medals and 22 schools received bronze medals. To be eligible for a state ranking on the list, a school must be awarded a national gold or silver medal.

The top-ranked West Virginia schools on the list are as follows:
  • George Washington High School, Charleston
  • Morgantown High School, Morgantown
  • Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport
  • Hurricane High School, Hurricane
  • Fairmont Senior High School, Fairmont
  • Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction
  • Nitro High School, Nitro
According to U.S. News & World Report, other notable schools that received bronze medals are as follows:
  • Buffalo High School, Buffalo
  • East Hardy High School, Baker
  • Greenbrier East High School, Lewisburg
