Wheeling Banks Meet With Police After Recent Rash of Bank Robberies

Posted: Updated:
WHEELING - Rich Lucas, the President and CEO of Main Street Bank, along with other representatives from every bank with a branch in Wheeling, met with Chief Shawn Schwertfeger this week about the recent rash of bank robberies.

The meeting covered what banks are doing to prevent and deter future bank robberies in the Wheeling area. Lucas said that all banks already have policies and procedures in place and each employee is trained how to deal with a robbery and the tips brought up by the Chief and Detectives were very helpful.

"Every bank in the city showed up with a representative, nothing earth shattering so to speak, no secrets given," said Lucas.
"It was a good general discussion and I would say banks are on top of their security."

Lucas said that the police have been pleased with the response time of each bank robbery and although the banks are trained for it, they hope the robberies cease.

Each of the three bank robbery suspects have been caught on camera, but so far police are still searching for all three suspects.
