A former Lewis County High School band director has pleaded guilty to filming minors in sexually explicit material.

Floyd Ellsworth Friend, Jr., 40, pleaded guilty to the charge Thursday.  Judge Kurt Hall suspended a ten-year prison sentence against Friend as part of a plea agreement and sentenced him to five years of probation.

West Virginia State Police were investigating Friend on another charge when they discovered 422 suspicious graphics, which included sexually explicit pictures of an underage girl and Friend together, according to a criminal complaint. The pictures were found on Friend's cell phone and the memory card inside the phone.  Friend was arrested in July 2013.

As a condition of his plea agreement, Friend is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
