This week's Test it Tuesday product is the Bacon Bowl.
The commercial said it can cook the bacon to perfection.
According to that commercial, the bowls are supposed to be able to hold anything from macaroni and cheese, to a salad (even though they pretty small).
I had a problem assembling the bacon so that there were no holes in the bottom. I followed the directions, but it doesn't seem like a realistic goal unless you do more than two layers.
Just leafing through the directions, I noticed that in the commercial it sounds like you can get this bacon bowl to bake in the oven in just a few minutes, but on the directions it says it takes 30 minutes to bake in the oven.
Once it cooks, the bacon needs to cool and crisp.
But, I had no luck trying to get the bacon bowl off of the mold.
Both the bacon cook in the oven, and the bacon cooked in the microwave crumbled off the mold instead of staying in the bowl shape.
It can also be used to make bread bowls, and that worked really well.
The final review was that the bacon bowl was good at cooking the bacon and collecting the grease, but it didn't come off in the bowl shape. It worked great for bread bowls. But, if you want to use it to make a bacon bowl, this one is a no.
