UPDATE: Route 2 in Marshall County Reopens After Car, Tanker Collide
Route 2 reopened around 4 a.m. Wednesday after a car and tanker truck collided onTuesday afternoon, shutting down the road and sending one person to the hospital. The road was closed north of Fish Creek Road to the Wetzel County line after a car and tanker truck carrying chlorine gas collided, leading to one person being airlifted to a local hospital. The accident occurred between the CertainTeed Gypsum Plant and the Kammer Mitchell Plant late Tuesday afternoon. One injury was reported, with that person being extracted from the car and flown to a local hospital.
All residents within in a half-mile radius were evacuated as a precautionary measure, and rail traffic was stopped as a precaution.
