JANE LEW -

Harrison County Commission received a funding request on Thursday from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5131.

The post is actually in Jane Lew, but a lot of the members are from Harrison County.

It’s looking to renovate a building built in the 1950's, but it needs funding.

“It needs to be refurbished and reconditioned from the outside to the inside. The roof, the walls on the interior, plumbing, electrical, flooring, doors and the entranceway are bad, really the whole thing needs redone. It needs to be re-made over,” said Glen Baker, with VFW Post 5131.

Baker and Quartermaster Ron Russell were at Commission to make the request.

They said it was worth a try to see if funding was available, even if the location of the building is in Lewis County.

The building will house both the VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Commission tabled the funding request, to check with attorneys to see if the request is legal.
