Two Morgantown teams will represent the region in Saturday's WVSLA championship lacrosse games in Charleston.
The top seeded University High boys will play Wheeling Central Saturday at 2 p.m. The Hawks are looking for back-to-back titles and are undefeated this year against West Virginian teams. Head coach Julian Dymacek said his team is focused and ready to go.
"Last week we had a good week of practice for Morgantown. The guys had a resolve to get better all week. We went in with a plan, and they stuck with it and they stuck with it and believed in it and I think it's the same this week," said Dymacek.
The second seeded Lady Hawks will face number one George Washington Saturday at noon. It's the first time the UHS girls have made the title game since 2008, their last title came back in 1998 when they defeated Morgantown. Assistant coach Dana Grandon said making to title game is a great reward for a dedicated senior class.
"I think it'll be a really rewarding experience just because it's the seniors. We have such a large senior class that have been here for so long. And for the younger girls we have several sophomores. Hopefully it will be a really good rounded experience to get out and play for a state title," said Grandon.
