Star City Police seized a vehicle they believe struck and killed James Maloney, 32, of Granville early Saturday morning on Monongahela Boulevard.

Chief of Police Victor Propst said the department seized a 2011 red Chevrolet Equinox on Tuesday.

Propst said the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department is helping them search the vehicle and collect any forensic evidence. 

Propst said the department will be in contact with the Monongalia County Prosecuting Attorney's Office to consult on any charges.

The Star City Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run that happened on Saturday, May 17.

The victim has been identified as James Donald Maloney, 32, of Granville.  The accident happened just before 1 a.m. on Monongahela Boulevard.  Maloney was struck by the vehicle and died because of the injuries he sustained.

The vehicle fled the scene and continued north on Monongahela Boulevard.

The vehicle involved is a red SUV and will have damage to the at least the front grill, said the Star City Police Department.
