WV PSC Requires Mon Power and Potomac Edison to Conduct Monthly Meter Readings

Posted: Updated:
The West Virginia Public Service Commission issued an order to FirstEnergy subsidiaries Monongahela Power Company (Mon Power) and Potomac Edison Company (PE) that requires the companies to implement monthly meter reading and billing, according to a Wednesday afternoon press release.

The order also directs the companies to maintain adequate staff to perform monthly readings and to continue to submit monthly statistical metrics to the Commission through Dec. 31, 2015. Mon Power and PE serve approximately 520,000 customers in 37 West Virginia counties.

These changes -- which come as a result of a general investigation into meter reading, billing and customer services that was initiated in June 2013 -- are set to begin as soon as possible, but no later than July 1, 2015.
