Group Has 'Big Ideas' to Revitalize Downtown Wheeling
"Big things" are coming to Wheeling, and on Thursday night, about 30 people gathered to listen to ways to expand and revitalize the downtown area.
The event was called "Big Ideas," and that's just what the four speakers had.
Speakers talked about utilizing green spaces and waterways, and using community gardens to grow fresh, local food. Ideas to improve parks and recreation and sustainable design were also discussed. The citizen-speaker series is something organizer Jake Dougherty hopes to continue in the future. He said, "So we're just hoping to get these ideas out there to the general public so we can start thinking about the different ways in which we can overcome some of the challenges here."
If you are interested in getting involved or sharing your ideas, you can reach out to the Downtown Wheeling group by heading to their Facebook page, here. If you are interested in Thursday's meeting, but missed it, the meetings will also eventually be streamed online through social media.
