BRIDGEPORT -

The Harrison County Relay for Life will be held Friday, June 6 starting at 6 p.m. and ending Saturday morning at 6 a.m. at Bridgeport High School's track.

Teams have raised more than $51,000 so far.

There will be a luminaria ceremony, fun activities, and cancer survivors will take the first lap.

Mary Lough with the American Cancer Society said the relay is a time to celebrate for survivors.

“It will be a lot of fun. We're not just sitting there crying, people think 'oh you're going to be there and you're going to be crying.' No, we do a little bit of crying but then we celebrate, because we have today and we're making a difference. Find someplace close to you and do something positive with something negative,” said Lough.

Betty Grogan is a 38-year-survivor and said it’s very important to support your local relay.

“It’s very important to come out support your family, your friends, your neighbors, and raise money. I hope one day we will find a cure,” said Grogan, 83.
