MORGANTOWN - The 14th Annual Deckers Creek Trail Half Marathon was held in Morgantown on Saturday.

Organizer said the course is mostly downhill with an elevation drop at approximately 800 feet. The 13 mile course began in Masontown and ended at Hazel Ruby Mcquain Park.

There were 700 registered runners for this year's half marathon and Laura Harnish came in first place. She said this is the third year she has made the trip from Pittsburgh to Morgantown for the half marathon.

She said the race is the perfect opportunity to gather and support other runners.

"I think it's just a good community event. Everyone's pushing themselves and it's great to be a part of that. It's a beautiful course it's the most fun race I say that I do all year. I come with some friends and we camp out before hand and just have a really good time running," said Harnish.

Harnish finished the race in one hour and 14 minutes.

All proceeds from the day go to the Deckers Creek trail in an effort to help preserve it.
