Stewart Puts On A Show At Annual High Point National

MT. MORRIS, Pa. -

It was a picturesque race day at High Point Saturday for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross High Point National.

Riders said earlier in the week that the national is usually hot or rainy, but Saturday the weather was perfect, and the riders put on a show.

James Stewart entered the day coming off his best weekend of the year. At Thunder Valley last week he won his first motto of the year. Stewart struck again. Number 7 took the checkered flag in motto one, and again in the second motto of the 450 class. He joined Ken Roczen as the only riders this year to pull the double.

After a slow start to the year, Stewart said it's all coming together.

"It's time to start racing as winning these things," he said. "We struggled in the first part of the year. I kept telling the guys, we're getting better after each week, and it's great to finally to 1-1, and especially going into Fathers Day. I wish my dad, and all the fathers out there a happy Fathers Day. This was great."

Stewart scored the 50 point weekend. Points leader Ken Roczen finished second with 42 points. Trey Canard, third, Ryan Dungey, fourth, and rounding out the top five was Josh Grant.

In the 250 class, Blake Baggett makes it three straight wins. He took both mottos Saturday and gains 13 points on points leader Jeremy Martin, who finished second with just 37 points, his lowest total of the year. Jason Anderson and Justin Bogle tied for third, and Christophe Pourcel finishes fifth.
