Update:

Monongalia County Commission is still charging forward to oppose the Mon Power rate increases.

Commissioners said that it's only concern is that other counties oppose the rates with them.

No matter how that is done. Commissioner Bill Bartolo said that he is pleased to hear that Preston County Commission is writing it's own resolution for the proposed rate increases.

"I think we'll find that I would be surprised if no county supported the opposition to the increases. You almost have to, you're almost feel compelled to. It's just too large of an increase to impose on the tax payers and that's what they're doing."

The commissioners hope every county commisson affected by the increases in the state will write their resolutions opposing the rates.

Prestion County Commissioners decided not to sign on with their Monongalia County counterparts against a Mon Power rate increase.

Preston County commissioner Craig Jennings said commission is against the rate increase but the county decided to make its own resolution regarding the rate increases.  Monongalia County outlined in it's resolution that the increases are the direct result of the recent purchase of the Harrison Power Station.

Preston County Commissioners said the reason is irrelevant, it doesn't believe the higher rates are justified for any reason.

Jennings said this proposal might be considered useless if the power plant purchase isn't the sole reason for the rate hike.
