Flagship Industry Conference Raises Over $600,000 for New York City Kids

NEW YORK, June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 300 private equity and senior investment professionals will convene tomorrow and Thursday for the 7th Annual State of the Market Conference presented by Reed Smith LLP and Zurich Insurance Group to benefit Youth, I.N.C. (Improving Nonprofits for Children) with headliners, Governor Mitt Romney and David Bonderman, Founding Partner of TPG. This annual event provides senior corporate executives with the opportunity to hear CEOs and industry luminaries discuss key drivers of private equity investing as it relates to real estate, energy, and healthcare.

This two-day conference at The Plaza Hotel will raise critical funds for Youth, I.N.C., an organization that uses a venture philanthropy model to empower grassroots, youth-serving nonprofits to become financially sustainable. This year, Youth, I.N.C. anticipates raising over $600,000 through the State of the Market Conference. The money raised through sponsorships and donations will be directed toward capacity-building programs for Youth, I.N.C.'s 120 partner nonprofits and the 140,000 kids they impact across New York City.

Day one of the Conference will cover broad private equity topics and day two will focus exclusively on healthcare.  Additional keynote interviews feature Nancy-Ann DeParle, Former Director of the White House Office of Health Reform, moderated by Melissa Francis of FOX Business Network, and Dr. Kenneth L. Davis, CEO of Mount Sinai Health System, moderated by Paul Gigot of The Wall Street Journal.

"Over the last seven years, the State of the Market Conference has provided a forum for open and forward-looking dialog for New York City's financial leaders while raising crucial funds for Youth, I.N.C.'s programs which strengthen the infrastructure of nonprofits serving kids in poverty," said Steve Orr, Executive Director and Founder of Youth, I.N.C. "Youth, I.N.C. produces significant and sustainable impact in the lives of New York City kids by uniting the corporate and nonprofit sectors. We thank our sponsors and Conference participants for their leadership in championing key capacity-building programs and advancing the future of at-risk children throughout New York City."
