If you're not one for doing yard work, you may change your tune, especially if you live in New Cumberland.

City council is considering requiring jail time for residents who refuse to clean up.

A proposed amendment to the city's nuisance law calls for up to two days in jail for first-time offenders.

Two-time offenders would face up to five days in jail, and repeat offenders could spend up to 30 days behind bars.

The current penalty is a $100 fine for every 48 hours that the nuisance exists.

The council gave the amendment a first reading on Friday during a special session.
