Network Ignites Nostalgia for the Decade to Celebrate the Premiere of The '90s: The Last Great Decade? Airing July 6-8 at 9 PM ET/PT

WASHINGTON, July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National Geographic Channel dubs Wednesday, July 2, Macarena Day and invites the nation to dance through its midweek slump with the craze of the 1990s, a feature of the channel's upcoming three-part miniseries event.

In celebration of Macarena Day, and the upcoming miniseries The '90s: The Last Great Decade? that premieres on Sunday, July 6, National Geographic Channel employees compiled a video to start spreading the dance fever, and the results can be found here.

Catch the rhythm and participate in the return of the trend by posting videos of the dance using #MacarenaDay and #NatGeo90s. Select videos using the official hashtags will be shared by National Geographic Channel on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Released in August 1996, the English-language version of Los Del Rio's "Macarena" held a running spot at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 14 weeks and became the second-most-played song of the decade.

The '90s: The Last Great Decade? narrated by Rob Lowe, revisits the 10 years between the Cold War and the war on terror through 120 original interviews with newsmakers, major entertainers and thought leaders. The three-night event premieres Sunday, July 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the National Geographic Channel. For more information, visit www.rulethe90s.com  or use #natgeo90s on Twitter.
