Many families gathered Saturday at North Bend State Park in Ritchie County to continue celebrating their Independence Day holiday.

One family in particular celebrated with a family reunion bringing their family back to its roots here in West Virginia.

“We are very happy to be here, and spend the Fourth of July. We try and do the long weekend so everybody can gather together from everywhere,” said Diana Davidsonn, Nutter Family Reunion member.

Most of the members of the Nutter family traveled in from Norfolk Virginia to be able to attend their family reunion. Summer Naturalist, Anna Carpenter at the park said she enjoys many activities that the park has to offer.

“My favorite activity out here at the park I would say is our hiking. We do a lot of hikes and guided tours, one of those is an overlook trail we’re doing today, I’m really excited about it,” said Carpenter.

Kids at the park were able to enjoy some fun in she sun, such as fishing and spending quality time with their parents.

“I like just being out here with my friends and family,” said Peyton Stclair, Chesterfield Virginia resident.

“I like to cast out the line,” said Connor Stclair, Virginia.
