City of Fairmont's Customer Service Center Opens on Merchant Street

Posted: Updated:
The city of Fairmont's Water and Sanitary Sewer Board has relocated its Customer Service Center.

Customers can now pay their bills at the former WesBanco Building on Merchant Street.

The bank's drive-thru window is still in operation, but the rest of the building is shared by the city to offer easier access for customers.

The building offers its own drive-thru window and three more windows inside.

"It's a really beautiful building. Everything looks really nice in here, really clean. I didn't have to park and tote my two year old across the street, which has always been an issue, although I don't have her with me today. I didn't have to pay to park, so it's much more convenient," said customer Sarah Lutz.

"It's a little bit burdensome for them now at the J. Harper Meredith Building because we're on the third floor, you're dealing with steps or an elevator and limited parking. This is going to open up our operations to be much more customer-friendly for all of our customers," said David Sago, Fairmont utility manager.

"When you get over to the county complex and people have to wait, they're irate by the time they get to the third floor, this way, I think it'll alleviate a lot of that," said Mayor Ron Straight.

The building is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
