West Virginia State Police have arrested a Wallace man in connection to the drug overdose of a 17-month-old child.

James Russell McIntire, 26, is charged with child neglect creating risk of injury or death.  On July 9, 2014 West Virginia State Police Cpl. J.G. Daugherty was dispatched to Pleasant Creek Campground in Taylor County after receiving an overdose complaint about a 17-month-old boy.  Cpl. Daugherty learned that the child may have come into contact with suboxone while visiting a friend of McIntire's, according to a court document.

McIntire admitted to placing the boy in his friend's truck without supervision for approximately 5 to 10 minutes.  McIntire also admitted to knowing that his friend used and was prescribed narcotic drugs, which is where the child likely came into contact with it, said the criminal complaint.

McIntire is out of Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
