The New Deal Festival Happening in Arthurdale Saturday

Posted: Updated:
The New Deal Festival will take people back in time on Saturday, back to the days of the new deal.

Arthurdale in Preston County was created out of the Great Depression by Eleanor Roosevelt.

This is the 80th year for the festival.

Festival favorites, like the car and tractor show will return. Visitors can also enjoy some new exhibits and musical guests, including one that played for the First Lady.

“Of special importance is Elmer Rich. He’s an award-winning fiddle player and he actually played for Eleanor Roosevelt.  He’s in his 90’s now and travels with some companions, so he will be there and he will be talking about his experience with that,” said Julie DeBiase, Americorps Vista.

The New Deal Festival is on Saturday, July 12.
