UPDATE: Youth Services Systems Responds After Corrections Officer Accused of Sex Crime

WHEELING -  A West Virginia Division of Corrections officer has been charged with having sexual contact with a female juvenile inmate at the Lincoln Detention Center in Wheeling.

Reports say that 41-year-old Krisinda Renne McMahon, of McMechen, is charged with five counts of imposition of sexual acts on a person incarcerated or under supervision. The criminal complaint states the inmate told a state police trooper that McMahon had sexual contact with her on five occasions between March and June.

McMahon reportedly confessed to having sexual contact with the victim on one occasion. A magistrate set her bond at $2,500.

Youth Services Systems, meanwhile, responded to the arrest: "YSS deeply regrets learning about these alleged incidents. YSS learned of the criminal allegations when the charges were filed last week. Our mission with youth in our care is to rehabilitate so they will have success in life and better futures. The safety and security of youth we care for is most important to us. All employees undergo rigorous background checks and extensive training. YSS has a camera security system in all areas of our facility permissible by law.

We had no knowledge of the alleged incidents prior to the filing of the criminal complaint. This person was not employed by YSS at the time the investigation was initiated. When allegations about juveniles in state custody are made, the Division of Juvenile Services along with the Department of Health and Human Resources initiate the investigation and involve law enforcement when warranted. YSS is cooperating with the authorities in any way requested.
