The Lewis County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Weston man on a child abuse resulting in injury charge.
The sheriff's department was notified by Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital about a possible child abuse complaint. A 4-year-old child at the hospital had fresh swelling and bruising of the eyes, as well as fresh and old scratches to the neck, arms, torso, stomach, and back, according to a criminal complaint filed by J.S. Tonkin. At the time of the injuries, the child had been in the care of George Joseph Lattea, 44. Through an investigation by the sheriff's department, it was determined that Lattea was responsible for the child's injuries.
Lattea is being held in Central Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
