Upshur County Route 20 Accident Sends 6 People to Hospital

HODGESVILLE -

An accident in Upshur County on Saturday injured six people. 

West Virginia State Police said it happened just after 6 p.m. on Route 20 near Hodgesville. 

Troopers said Tonya Phillips was driving a Chrysler SUV and got distracted while tending to a one-year-old child.

The SUV left the roadway, struck a garage building, and parked vehicle.

Six people were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon with non-life threatening injuries. 

The Upshur County Sheriff's Department assisted along with Warren District Volunteer Fire Department and Upshur County Emergency Squad.

Troopers said Phillips will be cited.

The crash remains under investigation.
