The American Legion sent a team of experts to Harrison County. The group is assisting veterans and family members affected by delays in getting access to VA health care, or in getting their benefit claims. Monday, a town hall meeting was held to hear the specific concerns of local veterans.

"We don't want to guess what veterans are feeling or what we think they need. We want to hear it right from the veterans, what they need and what they need for us to advocate for them on their behalf," said Verna Jones, Director of Veteran Affairs, American Legion.

The American Legion will set up a Veterans Crisis Command Center, where veterans can receive one on one assistance. The crisis center will operate at American Legion Post 31 in Shinnston, Tuesday noon to 8p.m. and Wednesday 8a.m. - 8p.m.
