An Upshur County man convicted of murder will spend his life behind bars.

Howard Clarence Jenner was convicted of the December 2011 shooting death of his aunt, Beni Truax, and in the attempted murder of his uncle, Sherman Truax.

Judge Kurt Hall sentenced Jenner to life in prison without parole.  Jenner will also spend between 3 and 15 years in prison for the attempted murder charge and 2 to 10 years for malicious assault.  Jenner's sentences for attempted murder and malicious assault are to run concurrently with one another but consecutively with the murder charge, according to Upshur County Prosecutor Jake Reger.

Jenner requested a new trial in June 2014.
