State lawmakers are in the area for legislative interim committee meetings.

Each committee is touring businesses, schools, and other facilities.

On Monday they were at United Technical Center, the home rule board meeting, Tygart Lake State Park, and more areas.

House Government Organization Committee Chairman Jim Morgan said the meetings get lawmakers into areas affected by their decisions.

“It's a yearly program to take the legislature out to the people so they understand what's going on. It also allows the legislators time to tour various things to see what could be done to help West Virginia,” explained Delegate Morgan.

Tours will continue over the next two days.
