WBOY STORMTRACKER 12 WEATHER SYNOPSIS:
High pressure to the south of the state is continuing to pump warm air into the region for the weekend. We woke up to mostly clear skies and plenty of sunshine but cloud cover began to increase for the late afternoon hours. It was a mild day with highs reaching the low 50s so a light jacket sufficed heading out the door, even with slightly windy conditions. Some areas could see patchy fog tonight otherwise it'll be mostly cloudy with spotty drizzle to start and light rain overnight.
Rain will continue into Sunday in the form of scattered showers. Highs will be in the low 50s for the day and lows dropping to the 40s. Rain will continue into the late overnight hours and could linger for northern parts of the state for the early morning hours before tapering off.The start of the work week looks to be the warmest day of our gradual defrosting before temperatures become more seasonable. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s with mostly cloudy skies and lows in the 40s overnight. Periods of moderate to heavy rain will occur Monday for the late overnight hours.
By the late evening hours a cold front will move through gradually dropping temperatures to seasonal normals for the rest of the week. Precipitation will continue as rain for the early morning hours Tuesday before snow begins to mix in. Precipitation will completely transition to snow around the afternoon hours and continue overnight. Light snow will continue into Wednesday for the mountains but the lowlands could see some stray flurries.
Conditions will gradually clear into Thursday with seasonable temperatures. Friday will see mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 50s. Mild temperatures will continue into the weekend with another chance for rain.
