Two Elkins residents were arrested Thursday after police found seven marijuana plants and methamphetamine in their home.

Barbara King, 27, and John Howell, 64, are each charged with cultivating marijuana.

The Elkins Police Department executed a search warrant at the Central School Apartments in Elkins and found two scales, several small clear plastic bags, several drug paraphernalia pipes, a Cool Whip container full of marijuana and a pill bottle containing methamphetamine.

Howell told police he attempted to grow the marijuana in hopes that he could obtain a prescription for it.  King told police she did not use methamphetamine and only smoked “weed.”

Both King and Howell are currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
