Students from Union Elementary in Upshur County are petitioning the County Commission to install a stop light at a dangerous intersection.
Two students, Emily Jozwick and Cloey Warner, collected more than 300 signatures from students and staff.
The intersection of Route 33 and Kesling Mill Road has been the site of accidents, including a recent one that killed an Upshur County man.
The students hope the light will be installed.
“Because we don’t want as many lives being lost and maybe it will stop more wrecks from happening,” said Warner.
The commission approved the petition, and the students will be submitting a letter for the West Virginia Division of Highways to consider the proposal.
