Armed Robbery Reported in Fairmont Following ‘Drug Deal Gone Bad’


An armed robbery was reported in Fairmont Thursday afternoon.

Fairmont Police said the incident was a “drug deal gone bad” that occurred right after noon. 

According to Lieutenant Detective Doug Yost, the victim went to a residence on Church Street to buy cocaine. Yost said the residence had been reported due to drug activity previously.

While the man was waiting on his cocaine, another person came in with a gun and pointed it at him. Police said the victim then ran through the neighborhood and into Fairmont State University’s Falcon Center to report the incident.

Police are still working to identify a suspect. The incident will continue to be investigated by the Fairmont Police Department.
