Bridgeport city council commemorated the 14th annual Scottish Festival and Celtic Gathering with a proclamation on Monday night.
The proclamation acknowledged the work of the late Ann Watson, who helped to organize the first festival. Accepting the proclamation were Kim Sabo the President of the Scottish Heritage Society of North Central West Virginia, the Festival Chairman Kevin Anderson, and Society Treasurer Scott Burnside.
“It’s important that the festival work with the city of Bridgeport because without their backing financially and also with manpower hours we could never pull off this festival. We’ve worked for 14 years with them in conjunction to pull off probably the best Scottish festival in the area,” said Sabo.
A bronze plaque in Watson’s honor will be dedicated on May 2nd during the Festival in Bridgeport City Park.
