You’ve heard of trick-or-treating, but have you heard about trunk-or-treating?
The Buckhannon Police Department held its second annual trunk-or-treat event in the public safety building parking lot where vehicles could park, fill their trunks with Halloween-themed decorations, and hand out candy to the local children. This provides a safe alternative for parents to trick-or-treating. The event is incredibly popular and well-attended in the community.
“Last year, it was very well-received in the community, we had between 6 and 7 hundred uh kids uh show up, and we decided to make it an annual event to offer a safe trick-or-treating alternative to the youth of our community,” said Buckhannon Police Chief Matt Gregory.
Many local businesses and community organizations partnered with the police department and also handed out candy.
