Calvary Chapel Hosting Open House for Historic Morgantown Building

Curious motorists traveling on Tyrone Road in Morgantown may have noticed a castle-like structure.

The former Good Counsel Friary is now owned by Calvary Chapel to use for future ministries and the pastor’s family home. Thoney Pietro, a master stonemason, built the unique landmark in 1933.

The Pastor says there are at least a dozen people a week that stop by to take pictures and find out more about the structure. The church decided to give the general public one last look with an open house.

“There have been crews working in here restoring the beauty of the building to make it useful again,” said Pastor Shawn Frasher. “Before we move in, we wanted to give the community an opportunity to come in and see what has really been hidden for many years.

More than 150 people have already RSVP’d. You can attend the open house by calling the church office, at 304-777-3155.
