City of Buckhannon Chooses New Fire Chief

The City of Buckhannon will soon welcome a new fire chief.

After a five month search, officials chose James Townsend. City Administrator Michael Doss said Townsend brings more than 30 years of experience in the fire service. Townsend recently retired as a fire captain in California.

Doss said Townsend will be a good fit.

“He’s a professional individual, again he’s got 28-30 years of experience in fire service. Just his personality, his vision, some of the things he’s wanting to bring to the fire department were really right on par on some of the goals and objectives that we were looking for,” said Michael Doss, city administrator.

Townsend will assume his role on June 27.
