Longview Power opened its doors to one of our state representatives on Monday.
Congressman David McKinley toured the plant, which has become the most efficient, cleanest coal-fired power plant in the United States.
Longview spent over $120 million last year in upgrades to make their facilities clean and efficient.
Congressman McKinley’s goal is to take the cutting edge technology from Longview Power and bring it to the rest of the world, but the first step is getting the word out.
“They’re showing it works,” Congressman McKinley said. “You can use this technology that they’re doing, and by virtue of doing that, you’re dispelling the notion that coal can’t be used cleanly, and they’re doing it, and effectively.”
McKinley also added that if the United States eliminated all coal, it only accounts for .2% of the world’s emissions, so making other plants cleaner is key.
