Crane Accident Shuts Down Part of Route 50 in Doddridge County


A crane accident has occurred Friday morning on Route 50 westbound in Doddridge County. 

The accident happened at just after 11 a.m. near Long Run Road and Sherwood Forest Run. 

There are no reported injuries at this time, according to Doddridge County 911 officials.

The road will be closed for an unknown amount of time while officials work to get the crane out of the road, officials said.

West Virginia State Police, Doddridge County Sheriff’s Department, Doddridge County Ambulance Authority and Smithburg Fire Department all responded to the scene of the accident. State Police are investigating the accident. 

Please use alternative routes and expect delays when traveling through this area. Crews have opened the berm of the road, and traffic has started to move slowly. Route 50 eastbound traffic has been reduced to one lane.
