Deputies Search for Man After Blacksville Dollar General Robbery

UPDATE (3/17/16 at 11:30 a.m.):

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, authorities have not located a man involved in an early morning robbery at the Dollar General on Mason-Dixon Highway in Blacksville.

The robber is described as a man with a thin build, standing approximately 6’3″. He was wearing all black with a green mask.  He took a money bag from a store employee who was in the parking lot leaving to make a deposit, according to deputies.

There was no weapon brandished, and no one was injured.

The robber fled the area on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.  A K-9 tracking dog was used, but was unable to locate the robber, deputies said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office at 304-291-7260.

The sheriff’s office will continue the investigation.

A strong arm robbery was reported at the Dollar General in Blacksville Thursday morning.

According to Chief Deputy Perry Palmer of the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, the robbery occurred just after 7 a.m., and sheriff’s deputies were on scene for several hours.

Mason Dixon Elementary School and Clay-Battelle High School were both put on precautionary lockdowns while deputies worked to locate the robber.

According to the Monongalia County Board of Education, the schools resumed normal operations after sheriff’s deputies said it was safe to.
