A Randolph County man is dead after he was shot during an incident with law enforcement agencies Friday night.
The incident happened on Ward Avenue around 11:45 p.m., according to West Virginia State Police.
State Police and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department were assisting Elkins police in serving a search warrant at the residence. Upon entering the residence, two troopers encountered William Waldron, 26, armed with a shotgun.
Waldron immediately pointed the shotgun at the troopers, and troopers fired their weapons at Waldron, police said.
Waldron was transported by ambulance to Davis Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his wounds.
No officers were injured during this incident.
