Fairmont’s BAD buildings group is taking a community survey of its vacant and dilapidated properties from the more than 300 BAD buildings.
They identified 75 that need the most work. Carpenter and deconstruction expert Mike Jecker is evaluating each one.
He checks items like the roof, windows and structure to see if it can be deconstructed or should be demolished.
“It can be completely taken out, new windows put in and refurbished,” said Jecker. It’s a good solid old home. Normally people look at it and say demo it. But we’re going back for that second look.”
The group is also looking for investors to help fund the work on each building.
