Fire Destroys Marion County Home

A fire on Valley View Drive in Marion County destroyed a home Thursday afternoon.

Crews responded to the fire at approximately 2 p.m. According to Marion County 911, there was one person home at the time of the fire, but they were able to get out safely.

While fighting the fire, firefighters faced a brief water outage while using the hydrant and were trying to get water from the pool behind the home or the nearby creek. Water from the hydrant did come back on at some point, according to our reporter on scene.

The Monongah, Valley, Boothsville, Winfield, Bunner’s Ridge, Barrickville, Worthington and Shinnston Fire Departments responded to the scene, along with the Marion County Rescue Squad and West Virginia State Police.
