Free Cooking Class in Clarksburg Helps Community Experiment with Cooking

The Progressive Women’s Association’s free cooking classes on fresh foods and how to prepare them.

The Friday lesson included a catch of the day. That catch was fresh trout caught in Buckhannon.

The cooking classes are free and break people into groups where they work on a new recipe.

The classes are sponsored by the Harrison County United Way, Clarksburg Farmer’s Market and the Uptown Event Center.

Organizers for the classes said they hope lessons teach people to experiment with cooking.

Deonna Crowe, organizer, said “So many people don’t know how to clean a fish, how to process it, how to cook it, and that’s the biggest thing is I want people to realize is that fish is good for you.”

The next free cooking class is at the Uptown Event Center on July 21.
