A Lewis County organization is working to make its community a little brighter.
The Lewis County Family Resource Network has joined with Heart of WV Rocks to host a rock painting party at Willow Street Park.
Group members paint rocks and hide them around the county to be discovered by the public.
The rocks are meant to brighten people’s day after they are discovered, and then be hidden again.
Organizers said the project has also helped to bring the community together.
“Kids are getting outside and looking for rocks, families are doing this together, and now we’re having people do these painting parties, so neighbors that didn’t even know they live real close together are seeing each other,” said Heart of WV Rocks’ Sarah Lough.
The rock painting party kicks off Friday night at 6 p.m at the Willow Street Park.
