The Morgantown Municipal Airport was named the busiest in the state for 2015 and now the airport is rolling out heightened security measures.
These new measures are required for flights to the Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
The increase in security makes the Morgantown airport the state’s first gateway to Reagan National.
Director Glen Kelly said achieving these security enhancements will lead to more flights from Morgantown.
“Not only our business leaders and our university leaders can fly directly to Reagan and go see our congressional delegation and things like that easier, but also people from other airports can fly here and set up that additional security screening,” said Kelly.
The first flights left Morgantown to Ronald Reagan starting last month.
