Morgantown Police Department Holds ‘Coffee With a Cop’ Event

The Morgantown Police Department held their fourth “Coffee with a Cop” event Thursday evening at the Sabraton McDonald’s.

The majority of contacts law enforcement have with the public happen during emergencies, and this event breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction. Morgantown Police Department and community members were able to come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, and build relationships.

“It’s not an adversarial environment, it’s not a political environment with an agenda or anything. It’s just whether they have questions or concerns or want to relay information to us. That’s the biggest part about this,” said Chief Ed Preston, of the Morgantown City Police.

Another “Coffee with a Cop” event is in the works for when the students return back to classes in August.
