The VA Hospital in Clarksburg is showing off one of its newest units.
The hospital will open its new Acute Mental Health Unit in a few weeks.
The inpatient ward is designed to help veterans facing serious mental health issues on a short-term basis, while connecting them to more appropriate long-term services.
Doctors said the hospital is in a unique position to help ensure they get the best care.
“It’s integrated into the whole treatment of the veteran, whether it’s psychiatric treatment, mental health treatment, or whether it’s physical treatment, everything form eyeglasses to orthopedics to dental care, all of these things are in the same location,” said Joel Vogt, VA Hospital.
Hospital staff said they’ll begin receiving patients in the new ward within a few weeks.
