The Korean War Memorial in East Marion Park is now flying a new flag.
A Flag Day ceremony was held on Sunday at the memorial.
Local veterans as well as representatives from state and local government were in attendance.
The new flag, presented by Senator Joe Manchin’s office had previously flown over the state capital building.
“This is something that really brings joy to my heart to see people honor and proud of that American flag as I am,” said Korean War Veteran Columbus Carpenter, who also helps with fundraising to complete the memorial. “I’m so proud of that flag. I’m proud of the guys that fought for it.”
The new flag in 60 feet by 30 feet, which is the largest size that’s regularly made.
