The Sheetz at University Place held it’s grand opening Tuesday.

A ribbon cutting was held to unveil the fuel-free Sheetz cafe. The Sheetz is the first of it’s kind at around 15,000 square feet, almost triple the size of the normal stores.

The location will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Sheetz also presented the Special Olympics of West Virginia with a check worth more than $44,000.

“The response that we’ve gotten from the university, and from the community, not just the city of Morgantown, but the county, local businesses, chamber of commerce, has been outstanding. We get very good support here in the Morgantown community,” said Louie Sheetz, Board Member.

“Sheetz is one of about a dozen retailers that will ultimately be here. We have Insomnia Cookies opening and running, La Nova Pizza and Italian is opening very soon. We’re talking a number of other food offerings for University Place as well as a fitness center type offering,” said David Martinelli, Owner/Developer University Place.

Sheetz is planning on opening another fuel-free, cafe-style restaurant on the Penn State Campus.
