Harrison County Delegate, Patsy Trecost, officially kicked off a bid for Secretary of State this afternoon.

Trecost announced his candidacy at the Harrison County Courthouse in Clarksburg.

Mayor Cathy Goings and former Mayor Jim Hunt spoke during the announcement.

Trecost said he wants to work to see that all West Virginia voters can make their voice heard.

“Work throughout the state to encourage our young people to register to vote.  Let them know that their vote does matter, their voice can be heard, and it’s important to me that I do that,” said Trecost.

Trecost is challenging incumbent Secretary of State Natalie Tennant in the Democratic primary.
